I’m back!
It’s been a wonderful summer. Many of you kept up with my goals, both intentional and unintentional— thank you for your good wishes! I feel refreshed and ready to make content for YOU again.
So let’s start with this: what do you want from Good Character this year? What are some topics you wish I’d explore— or fresh ways to explore any character-related topic? You can either leave a comment or send me a direct message if you’d like to keep it private.
In the meantime, I’d like to start posting more than I did last year, but given my schedule (you know, that teaching job… oh, and that parenting thing… and also writing other stuff) I’m not going to be able to invest extra time. So I’m trying out a new format with shorter, mini-posts on a variety of topics on Fridays (you can read the first one, out last Friday if you missed it) and longer posts once or twice a month on Tuesdays. I also may start to experiment with comment threads or video if people are interested.
Basically, I’m evolving here, not because I feel I have to, but because that’s how I work best. Creatively, I need flexibility. For example, I write in different genres and styles, crop-rotation style. It’s a funny aspect to my character, because I’m also highly organized and focused— but I’ve learned that if I want my creativity to show up for me, I need to let it flow wherever it wants to go.
So please enjoy September’s Friday posts on Modern Wisdom and Parenting With Character, and I’d so appreciate if you could let me know, via comment or message, how you like the new format. And if you miss the “classic” Good Character posts, don’t worry! You’ll have one in your inbox in two weeks.
I love this modern art— it perfectly encapsulates creativity and flexibility with focus!
Here’s to us, in all of our imperfect, striving goodness.
Keep hoping. Keep caring. Keep trying.
